You can depart from Lima to Puno using one of the bus services that operate daily. The journey usually takes around 20 to 22 hours, with different seat categories for greater comfort. Once in Puno, head to the main port, where you will find boats that will take you to Amantaní. Another alternative is to fly from Lima to the city ofJuliaca, located just 45 kilometers from Puno. This option significantly reduces travel time and allows you to continue to the lake more quickly. From Juliaca, you have several ways to continue to the island, detailed below.
Private Vehicle: If you choose to travel by road, take the paved Puno-Juliaca road northeast. After traveling about 25 kilometers, you should continue for 37 more kilometers eastward, until you reach the turnoff that leads to the Chifrón pier, in the Capachica district. From there, you will begin the lake journey by motorboat or boat to Amantaní, enjoying the scenery of Lake Titicaca for approximately an hour and a half.
By Bus: Another possibility is to take a bus from the Juliaca bus terminal to Capachica. The land journey takes around an hour or less. In Capachica, you can board a boat that, in less than two hours, will take you to Amantaní, allowing you to appreciate the blue waters and the islands that adorn the lake.
