RESERVE THE WALK THROUGH THE INCA ROAD 3 DAYS

The government has strictly limited the number of people allowed on the Inca Trail (permits are issued to about 200 walkers per day plus 300 porters, these 500 permits). We recommend making a trekking reservation as soon as possible, it is recommended 4 months in advance. It is recommended to book the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 3 days in advance, before booking plane tickets and hotels, as there are limited places to reserve the Inca Trail in PERU RAIL (train ticket)


Extra Info:

  • Tips: are for porters, cooks, or guides, are always welcome, and are organized by the group on different days. They will also be very grateful for the small gifts that can be for them or their children. The tips are collected among all the members of the group and it is not an individual contribution. As we said before it is optional, not obligatory.
  • Refund: If we do not get or fail to make your reservation for the Inca Trail, the payment of your deposit will be reimbursed 100%. 
  • Health and Safety: All of our participants must inform us if they have or have had any illness that could affect their personal or group progress during the walk. They must also bring their medications. We recommend that you visit your doctor before making your reservation if you have a health problem. 
  • The climb to Huayna Picchu: Only 400 people can climb this mountain per day. If you are interested in going up to Huayna Picchu, the entrance tickets must be reserved in advance. The price of admission is $ 65 per person. We recommend that you start your climb to Huayna Picchu at 10:00 am otherwise you will miss the guided tour of Machu Picchu. 
  • Where to keep your things: You can leave or keep things that will not take the Inca Trail to the hotel or hostel where you are staying. Most of these establishments have warehouses where they keep their things. If you do not trust the place where you stay, we will gladly keep your belongings in our office.

Day 1: Sacred Valley Tour
Detail

We will pick you up at your hotel at 8:00 a.m. To take you to the bus station. Then we will begin our journey going through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. In our tour we will descend approx. 500 meters to visit the town of Pisaq where we will visit the craft market and can buy some presents for their families. Then we will head towards the archaeological complex of Pisaq, which offers breathtaking landscapes throughout the valley. In the guided tour we will see the areas that were used as residences, temples and other architecture, etc. If you prefer to spend more time in the artisanal market instead of visiting the archaeological complex of Pisaq, you only need to inform your guide. After the visit to Pisaq we will continue to Urubamba, where we will stop for lunch, then we will go to Ollantaytambo which is surrounded by spectacular scenery. Here again we will be surprised by the magnificence of the Inca culture, with the amazing temple of the sun with its huge blocks perfectly carved and finished, the water fountains, and the traditional way of dressing of the communities that live around this beautiful place . After you have finished visiting this beautiful place we will transfer you to your hostel where you will spend the night and rest.

Day 2: Short Inca Trail

The Short Inca Trail tour to Machu Picchu starts from pick-up at your hotel (6:00 am approx.) We will drive to the train station where you will board the train that leaves from Ollantaytambo train station heading to Km 104 (start of our walk of Short Inca Trail). The train trip lasts an hour and a half, in this tour you will be able to appreciate beautiful landscapes and different ecosystems. When you reach km 104 and then cross a suspension bridge to reach the checkpoint, you must present your passport or document with which you made your reservation. At the end of the respective controls we will start with the uphill walk for 4 hours until we reach the Inca Wiñaywayna site which in Quechua means (forever young) Wiñaywayna has a height of 2680 meters above sea level and is considered one of the most attractive sites of this route . After your guided tour we will stop to eat our box lunch or snack. After recharging our energy we will continue our hike for an hour and a half until we reach the Intipunku (Sun Gate) where you can enjoy the first panoramic views of Machu Picchu. Finally we will continue walking through the last section of the Inca Trail until we reach the place where you can take the classic photo with the old citadel. After this short break, we will descend to the main entrance, here we will get on the bus that will take us to Aguas Calientes to spend the night. Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes, you will have time to relax at the hotel before your dinner and then plan the tour in the citadel on the last day of the tour.

Day 3: Machu Picchu Tour

Once you have arrived at Machu Picchu, you will have your guided tour for 2 hours from this historic site, followed by enough time to make your own tour. From 3:30 pm we will meet at a restaurant in Aguas Calientes for our last lunch together (optional and not included in the tour price). After lunch you will receive your train tickets for your trip back to Cusco.  

  • Important: If you are interested in climbing Huayna Picchu Mountain, please let us know at the time of booking. The cost of admission to Huayna Picchu is 65 dollars extra of the value of the tour. The rise time lasts 45 minutes of rise and 45 minutes of descent.

PLEASE BRING WITH YOU:

We recommend that you take only what is necessary to enjoy your trip and leave the rest of your things in the hotel.

  • The original passport or document with which you booked the tour, the authorities on the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu are very strict and will not allow you to enter if you do not carry them, you must carry the Original Passport or the Identity Document, Identity Card, Carnet ISIS. The authorities do not accept any type of photocopy of the aforementioned documents. 
  • A personal backpack for the day, to carry all your belongings, we recommend about 20 to 30 liters 
  • Appropriate clothing for walking: waterproof and comfortable shoes for long walks, shorts and long, dry fit sports shirts, rain jacket or rain poncho. A canteen with water for the first day of the walk (2 liters)
  • Personal hygiene items: a small towel, soap, toothpaste and toothbrush, toilet paper, hand sanitizer gel. These last two articles are very important. 
  • Personal medications, within this list also includes muscle relaxers, pain tablets and blessed for scratches, blisters on the feet that can be generated after several hours of walking.
  • Items to protect from the sun and mosquitoes: a sunscreen, sunglasses, hat and insect repellent. 
  • Extra battery for the camera 
  • Extra cash, for personal expenses such as the first breakfast, lunch on the last day or some souvenirs.
